No prompts. No journaling clichés. A real writing method, adapted from the classroom.

Everybody online sounds the same.

Same hooks. Same three tips. Same templates, same trending audio, same AI-assisted captions that could have been written about anybody by anybody.

That isn't going to get better. The tools that make everyone sound the same keep getting cheaper and faster.

So what's left?

The only thing that cannot be generated, borrowed, swiped, or scaled is what actually happened to you.

The chipped yellow counter beside your grandmother's stove. The exact sentence your mother said that you still hear. The job you quit and why. The thing you know so well you forgot other people don't know it.

Nobody has your material. Not another creator, not another coach, not a machine.

Most of us just can't access it. We sit down to write, to post, to introduce ourselves, to explain what we do, and we come up empty. So we reach for somebody else's format. Again.

This is forty days of learning how to reach for your own.

What you'll have in forty days

Not a vague feeling of clarity. Actual things you can point to.

  • A notebook full of memories, moments, noticings, and lists that belong only to you
  • A Territory Map, your own index of what keeps showing up in your life
  • A repeatable way to turn any moment into a story worth telling
  • The Ladder, which takes you from the first acceptable answer to the thing you actually mean
  • A sorted understanding of which beliefs are yours and which were installed
  • A dated page of what you know about yourself right now

If you make content, you'll never again stare at a blank screen wondering what to post. If you're building a business, you'll have the origin story, the legitimacy story, and the values story that make people trust you instead of scroll past you. And if you're doing this for no reason except that you can't hear yourself anymore, you'll have the only thing that actually helps with that, which is evidence.

Why this isn't journaling

This is a real method, not a set of prompts.

Get Writing With Me is adapted from the Writer's Workshop tradition — the way writing has been taught in classrooms for forty years by Donald Graves, Nancie Atwell, Katie Wood Ray, and Ralph Fletcher. I taught it for years as an elementary teacher before I adapted it for grown women.

The single most important principle: you choose your subject. Every day.

A prompt hands you somebody else's intention. That is the exact thing we're undoing.

Instead, each day gives you one small move to try — a minilesson — and then gets out of your way.

So why wouldn't you?

I don't have time.

Fifteen minutes. That's the whole ask. You've spent longer than that scrolling for something to post about.

I'm not a writer.

Good. This isn't writing to be read. Nobody sees your notebook, ever, unless you decide otherwise. Bad writing counts. Boring writing counts. Three sentences count.

I don't have anything interesting enough.

That belief is the exact thing this dismantles. You think you don't have material because nobody ever taught you how to find it. Ordinary is where the material is.

I've tried journaling and it didn't stick.

Journaling asks you to have something to say. This gives you a small move to try, every day, and then gets out of your way.

Get a notebook. Nothing fancy.
